Community Champion (Volunteer) - reopening in September

 🌍 Volunteer Opportunity: Become a Community Champion for Groundwater Monitoring

As a Groundwater Global Community Champion, you’ll take the lead in setting up and coordinating a Smartphone Groundwater Monitoring Network in your municipality. You are happy to work with local residents in your municipality. You feel that the community should be involved in the local groundwater resource. And that groundwater is a shared resource that should be monitored in a transparent way. So that the community is aware and knows what is going on.

What You’ll Do:

• Engage Your Community: You believe that groundwater is a shared resource and that local communities should be directly involved in its monitoring and stewardship.
• Build a Local Monitoring Network: You’ll help about 11-25 (or more) participants install a monitoring pipe and train them how to use and monitor with the Groundwater Global app.
• Support Weekly Measurements: Once operational, you’ll spend less than 1 hour per week supervising your monitoring network. The app shows which locations need attention, and you’ll send friendly reminders to participants to take their 1-minute weekly readings. Or maybe you can organize that participants remind each other.
• (Optional) Collaborate with Local Authorities: You’ll work with—or initiate contact with—your local Water Authority, sharing collected data monthly and discussing how it can inform better groundwater management.

• A creative thinker who can connect people and ideas to drive change.
